How Does Weird Al Do It?

Weird Al Yankovic is a man who has been writing song parodies since he was a child.  Unlike most, he's still going strong in his 50's.  I have yet to watch one of his videos, but I just have to wonder, how does he do it?  There are so many acts that are one and done or gone after a few years.  Take for example PSY, who took the world by storm with Gagnam Style in Fall 2012, but now is never heard of almost two years later.  Also Justin Bieber, who has stopped releasing music since his arrest.   Weird Al just keeps finding ways to make things funny and original I guess.  I'm going to watch those videos someday, but the time this week just doesn't alot it.  On the same note, I hope if I go into an acting career (becoming more and more unlikely) I hope I can keep things funny and fresh, as with that type of occupation,if you have no work, you become poor. See you later!  Follow me on Google + if you have one!

Confession Time

This blog post was inspired by something I recently read on a friends' blog, so credit for the idea goes to her. I'd also recommend checking her blog out as it's quite interesting.  Here's the link! So anyways, we all have some things we want to get off our chest right? But sometimes we're not exactly ready to share with the world some of our deepest secrets.  I am not going to tell you my life story or share anything I would regret sharing.  I hope you do the same and only share what you think the world is ready to know about you. I sometimes find it very hard to keep interest in things.  This includes my attention span and all things related. When I'm writing a story, if I feel I've hit a brick wall, the usual response is to stop wherever I am and never pick up the pen for that particular piece again.   I am not the biggest fan of chocolate.  I'll take cookies and ice cream over that stuff anyday. I don't even know what the way to my heart ...

What Three Weeks Of Camp Counseling Taught Me This Year

I just finished two straight weeks of camp counseling.  There was another one before the two but I was home over the 4th of July week so I had a break. There are many things you can learn from counseling, and I've listed out below some of the main things I learned this year. Giving a devotional is not so hard if you prepare beforehand It's usually a bad sign when dogs reek of compost Don't change yourself for other people. Live proudly. It's best to practice telling your personal testimony on your own before sharing it with an audience. I can swim a kayak back to camp from a thousand yards away Always untangle the ropes of the flagpole before flag raising Know more things about nature before leading a "nature walk"  Jr. High age campers need close guarding  My announcing skills can be put to use in more places besides on the job and at school. A guy can make girls cry through poetry.  Goodbyes can be both happy and sad. I met a lot of new peop...

Ideas You Can Get From Travel

This week I took an unexpected vacation to Michigan with my family.  We basically stayed in the Upper Peninsula sans a day or two we spent in Mackinaw City.  It was a fun time!  I never expected towns such as Munising and Sault Ste. Marie to be so big!  I was wowed! I also got the ball rolling on a possible storyline for the sequel set in Michigan, because trust me, who wouldn't want to see a story set there?  It's going to involve death, romance, humor, and violence thrown in with the usual dose of comedy.  If all pans out and I finish this original story, this sequel should be a joy to write. Those little Michigan towns are all going to get equal time in that sequel! Of course I didn't get any work done on the story this week, and I hope I can get some work done on it this Summer, hopefully finishing it before September. Next update is June 13th.

Some Of My Favorite Jams

Last night was Senior Radio Night for the Seniors at my school.  They were on the air for three hours from 6-9pm, and I caught the 8-9 hour when some of the baseball team was on.  In that hour, I heard a lot of awesome music that I downloaded to my phone later that evening.  It was an awesome program and I'd like to find the archives if I can so I can listen to all three hours! Now, I love music.  A lot of people have asked me what type of music I listen to.  The answer to that question is that I listen to whatever songs I enjoy from any genres and decades.  Here is a list of what some of my favorite songs are.  Feel free to disagree or agree in the comments. Kenny Chesney: Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven Journey: Don't Stop Believing Rick Springfield: Jessie's Girl Imagine Dragons: Demons Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins: Hillbilly Bone Plain White T's: Rhythm Of Love The Rolling Stones: She's A Rainbow I think that kinda covers what I en...

Another Brief Story Update

As a amateur writer who has never been heard of outside Cherry and Cotton where people always want to hear more stories from me, I've always had some type of interested fan. Of course, some fans have tried to be inserted into the stories doing certain things, and that led to quite the interesting deal in 2008 that will go unnamed here today.  After that I put down the pen until 2012 when I wrote a brief story about me passing away and coming back for a visit. This led to a series that still isn't completed, and now I find myself working on this novel. This novel has, at times, required a break from writing to refresh the juices inside my brain and get new ideas. This hasn't been a problem this week as I continue to slide through a dream sequence in Chapter 26 that will lead into the next scene at a Denny's restaurant.  It's coming along smoothly, and I hope to have it done by January 1st. Before I go, it is May sweeps, the time when we find out if our favorite s...

Some Work Actually Got Done On The Story This Week! (Yay!)

Yes, the headline is true!  I finally finished Chapter 25 this week, and am now going through Chapter 26, which introduces a love interest to one of the main characters through a dream sequence.  I think love is not a necessary element in all stories, but here, it really works to give the story some emotional drive. I also want to include some heartbreak in the later chapters, because the heartbreak some people feel after not getting to get with the girl or guy you really really liked or after a breakup can be life changing, especially after a long period of time together.  Lastly on the love note, you can also expect to find a lot of P.D.A jokes littered throughout. I'm also continuing to work in the characters, with about half of the characters currently signed up making their first appearance.  Again, I am trying to stay as true to personality as possible with maybe a few variations, which makes for a good time if I may offer. Well, that's it for now.  ...
