The 2014-15 School Year: Hitting The Highlights

Well, today is the last day of my Junior year, and I can honestly say I'm in disbelief.  How the school year went by so fast I have no idea, and apparently, neither did my GPA as I failed Math for the second half of the year and am borderline failing Science.  Thankfully these are the only two classes effected so that I don't have to repeat the 11th Grade. Below are some of the best moments of my Junior year, and they're the events that really helped shape my Junior year into what it was.  It's had it's ups and downs, but some events have really shone through the rest. Taking Over The Varsity Football Announcer's Position (September): Oh the fun I've had with this one.  Attendance was on the downward trend in the Fall but I still loved having my voice be the one to accompany the games.  Can't wait until next year!  Becoming A Business Owner (March): Free Range Sports is mine and I still can't believe it! Can't wait for the next adve

My Top Ten Places To Visit

Image
Want to take a vacation?  Here are my top ten places to visit for your next vacation, as well as a brief description of what I did in each of them. 1. London, England: Home to tourist attractions like the London Eye and Big Ben, London is a beautiful spot to visit.  Yes, the main language is English, but it's still awesome to see how people live on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.  It does rain there a lot, but it won't put too much of a damper on your day.  If you're lucky you might just meet  Queen Elizabeth! 2. Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Area, Minnesota: I may be a little bit biased towards this one since it's only three hours away from where I am here, but it is definitely worth checking out! Take in a concert at the Xcel Energy Center, visit America's largest shopping mall before the new mall in Miami beats it out!  Check out some scientific stuff at the Minnesota Science Museum!  There's lots of things to do, and you won't regret i

A Huge Thank You

This Spring something extraordinary happened when I became a business owner.  I was not expecting this at all, and was surprised when I was offered it in December.  Originally I turned down the offer because I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to my announcing gig after just half a year, but then after about a month of up and down times at school I changed my mind and decided to meet with the prior owner.  Two months later I picked up the equipment and a week after that I took to the air for the first time ever as the lead announcer of Free Range Sports. Since then we have covered 10-15 events this Spring, picked up one sponsor and inquired at around 100, been all over the Northland as far west as Deer River and as far south as Esko.  Some of the games we have covered have been over within an hour or in just over an hour.  Others have seen us over the airwaves for over two hours.  It can really be a wide variety when you don't know the strengths and weaknesses of the opposing

My Favorite Bible Verses

Some of us begin reading the Bible at a very young age.  Some of us start with children's Bibles and don't pick up the actual book until we're older (this describes me).  Others won't touch it until they're adults and feel like they need a change in their ways, as not everyone will believe at a young age.   No matter which one of the above three descriptions above you might be, I hope you'll enjoy this post.  I'm going to describe some of my favorite Bible verses and include some of the backstory involving me and that verse for a few.  Some verses that you feel are great and have been left out can easily be shared by commenting on the post below.  Happy reading!  My Favorite Bible Verses  Genesis 1:1- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. I enjoy this verse because it acts as the start of the story for all who have lived on this Earth.  God has been there forever, never quite having a beginning and he's not going to be ending e

The Life Game

This morning in Algebra III, or as my camp friends like to call it "nonexistent", our teacher introduced us to a game we will be playing over these next few weeks, trying to show us how math is used in real life since for many of my fellow Juniors and quite possibly myself this will be my last Math class for my high school career. The game involves us living in either the suburbs or busy downtown of a city called Rivertown, or across the river in a smaller city called Welchville.  Today we just figured out where stuff was on the map, but in the coming days we will be applying for a job, paying expenses, and getting an apartment just to name a few of the activities.  It looks to be a fun end to my Math class for the year. Now, I do feel that there's possibly a secret thing our teacher is trying to show us with this game, and that is that the cost of living is not going to be pretty and that we should spend and budget our money wisely.  Life does involve a lot of mo

Summer!

It's just two and a half short weeks until I no longer have to care about homework or force myself out of bed at 7am each and every morning!  I can't wait!  School has been so long this year honestly, with the feeling of having dragged out since around mid-January, and even more so since I was done with NED last month. I have some awesome things coming up this Summer! My first time in Washington D.C. will be from June 14th-21st!  There will be pictures coming from that.  I'm going to the White House, Gettysburg, the Smithsonian Museum, and more! And to top it off I'm going with my comedic and nerdy history teacher and my classmates!  It's going to be a great time! Free Range Sports will be adding Chisholm and Mesabi East in the Fall so there'll be work to do there.  Some longer shifts at Walmart, which will lead to more money assuming I get them :)  Three weeks at Story Book Lodge!  I can't wait to be there for Junior High and 3rd Junior, as well as

That Tagging Post My Friend Is Doing

There comes a time every so once in a while where we want to get to know our friends a little more. That's what this post is designed to do.  I would like to give my friend Lily credit for creating this (or stealing it from someone else), and I'm supposed to tag her in this, and since I'm not sure how to tag, I'm just going to link her blog to this post:  Lily's Blog Some of these questions may not apply to you, but as a fun activity, I ask that you answer them all and share it on your blog.  No need to tag me in it :)  These questions are very fun to answer and some of them do take some thought, but not too much thought.  1. Spring or fall?   I prefer the Fall.  It just has a happier vibe to it.  Yes, we are starting school again but it's also always so beautiful to watch the world around us change.  2. Waterparks or beaches?   Beaches most definitely.  I'm scared of most waterslides.  3. Dream car?   Whatever gets me to where I need to go in a day and
