Christmas When I Was Little

For the last Christmas post on my blog this year, I thought I would share with you what Christmas was like when I was a youngin.  As a visual aid I am using some recent pictures I created for my Spanish book "Cuando Era Nina".  Enjoy the story of Christmas when I was little Snow was always fascinating when I was little.  At that point when I never had to do any shoveling it was just magical white stuff that was fun to play in.  No comments about the snowmen that's two stories tall he was the first thing to be put in the picture, while the house and snowflakes followed. Sledding was fun when I was about six or seven years old.  With enough velocity we could sometimes get all the way to the other side of the large skating rink my father would clear off. We often tried (and failed) to make snow angels. Lydia and I would always compete to see who could make the bigger snowman.  Again I notice I don't have much sight for drawing things to scale these

We Need To Talk About Donald Trump

Donald Trump is making waves. The businessman turned politician is getting further and further ahead in the polls, now averaging about a 20 percent lead in the polls over opponents Dr. Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, etc...  But most of the poll results have come from one thing, that being the simple shock value offered by most of his statements, many of them racist. Currently, if we were to elect Donald Trump today, here's what would happen with people of several different ethnicity. All illegal Hispanic immigrants would be removed from the country, and kept from entering again thanks to a large wall that the Mexican government will pay for.  First of all, how long is this giant wall going to take anyways?  You're covering all of this land, a lot of which is along the Rio Grande river, and you're just going to build a giant wall!  And why does Mexico have to pay for this?  If Donald Trump wants to do this as President, the American government should put o

Now that the weekend's over, and more specifically Thanksgiving, I'm ready to celebrate the biggest holiday in America and around the world, Christmas.  Let me just venture to say that Christmas is not my favorite holiday, it's actually more like my fourth, coming in behind Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Independence Day.  One of the many things I don't like about the holiday is the fact that it sends so many people, especially children, into a mode of severe illness, not the mumps or chicken pox necessarily, moreover one simple little word: Gimme, and come to think of it, it's relative - I want it!
