Prepping To Lead The NED

This week has found me very busy starting to shape a plan for the Student Council Division I'm going to be leading next year.  I set a rough idea in motion, and got the list of all the schools in our area, of which there are about 35-50 at the present, and I have to add a couple that I forgot about. So many of these schools aren't actively participating that I'll be doing something about, like it or not. I also want to get us set up to do a division Christmas project, likely involving an area Salvation Army or Food Shelf.  I can't remember the last time NED did something like this, but it may be the first time.  I want to see the division going out and doing things to help the community, especially younger kids if at all possible. I also want to use technology as much as possible. Technology can take us anywhere, and it will help us out going forward through this next year.  Integrating it into Division Meetings will be the first step, as sometimes having a slidesho

Are You Ready For Some Baseball?!!!

This week, I started playing the sport of baseball. I have never played baseball on a regular basis before, and therefore, I am not the best. I have a lot of trouble catching at the right angle, and my throws and swings could be better. But this takes time, and I have improved over the course of this week. With time, I will get better and better. I know there's a slim chance I get on to the Varsity team, but hey, JV in 10th grade isn't exactly signaling an end, so I'm being optimistic for this 2014 season. The physical exercise from practice though is slowly going to whip me back into shape. Over the last few days when I'm not aching, which is happening less with each day, I feel like I have a new set of legs and that I can run anywhere I want to! I hope that as time goes on, I feel better and better, and then running will come easier and quicker, as I am slower than all but one or two on my team. It's going to be a great year, and I know improvement is on the h

A Brief Summary Of The Last Two Weeks

Wow! What a roller coaster ride these last two weeks have been! It feels like I've been losing sleep, but really I haven't. I've just been really busy. Last Tuesday, I was elected to be the President of the NED, which is a Minnesota Student Council section encompassing around ten schools in the Northeastern part of the state. I managed to beat a incumbent girl from Hibbing who had run the Division for the past year.  Despite my public speaking experience, I was shaking the entire time I gave my campaign speech and answered a question in long speech form. The gym erupted when I won though, and there were congratulations going around at the speed of light!  I even got my name announced over the PA system, which I thought may have been a little over the top, but the recognition was nice. Friday, I got to decorate for and attend a dance with my friends. I went single, but still had a great time! I was actually put on the spot by some friends and wound up twerking in front o
